Carli's 3rd Birthday

What does turning "free" mean? Well, to Carli, it means she can finally be in gymnastics and dance classes. To me, it means that she is not allowed to carry her blankets around the house anymore- they have to stay on her bed. To Cale, it means that she has to go to the doctor and get a shot. Unfortunately, we just went to the doctor today and Carli was all caught up on her vaccinations and didn't need any. He was pretty bummed about that.
We had a party at a community pool with Steven and Laurie and Karen and Mark and all of their kids. It was really fun. And the best thing about it was that it only cost $2.00! I am trying to keep birthdays as cheap and simple as possible for as long as I can, because I know it will only get worse as they get older.

Danielle Dorothy Jarvis

Spencer and the kids bought me some beautiful roses-red and pink. Carli wanted to get all pink roses, because it's her favorite color, and Cale wanted to get red roses, because red is my favorite color. Well, they found a bouquet with red and pink, and Spencer thought that would solve everything, but nope! Carli through a HUGE tantrum in the store. Nothing would stop her rantings. Spencer just picked her up and headed toward the checkout counter. After he finished paying, he grabbed her and held her tightly. Not knowing what else to say, the teenage checkout boy just said, "have a good day." Spencer replied, "I'm trying to." If he didn't have Cale with him, it probably would've looked like he was abducting her, the way he was dragging a screaming child out of the store. But such is the life with a 2 year old.

My mom came to visit and take care of me for a week. It is so wonderful to have her here. Especially since Danielle seems to think her bedtime is 2am. She wants to eat every hour from 11pm to 2 am. It's so terrible! I hurt so bad and I'm so tired. So my mom took her and let me sleep. I can't wait until she gets on a schedule-I live for order and scheduling!

Danielle came with a bang!

Well, Danielle was 2 days late and I went to the doctor for another check-up. They were concerned, from a previous ultrasound, that she was at least 9 lbs. They told me to go to the hospital and get another ultrasound to see if that assumption was correct. So, off to the hospital we went, but not to have the baby. I had another ultrasound, and it showed that she was now 10lbs 5 oz. I couldn't believe it! They encourage me to get a C-section, but that was the last thing I wanted to do. I told them that if my mom and sister could deliver 10 lb babies, that so could I. So, they decided to induce me right then. I was induced at 4pm and received the lovely epidural by 6pm. At 7:50pm, they told me to start pushing. I pushed for 7 minutes and she was out! I was so proud of myself. She ended up being 10lbs 2 oz, born on May 27th. I don't know why she was so big. My other two were 7 and 8 lbs. Oh well. She's a chubby little thing that eats plenty well.
It's been a week now, and I am just dealing with all the emotions of post-partum. I cry all the time, especially because Spencer just left on a 4-day camp out to the Grand Canyon with the teachers in our ward. I thought I would be okay because my mom is here to help me, but I'm not. I'm mad that he left me. When he gets back, I'm going to tell him that he's never allowed to leave me again for at least 2 weeks after I have a baby.
