I remember that being pregnant with Cale was a piece of cake. I didn't gain very much weight, I wasn't sick, I exercised the entire time, my water broke 9 days early, I had a quick labor and delivery, and I was back down to pre-pregnancy weight in the first 6 weeks. Cale was also a very happy, content, easy, beautiful baby. I thought, "what is everyone complaining about? Pregnancy and being a mother are a piece of cake!" So, we hurried and had another baby, and then my opinion completely changed!
Anyway, my water broke in the middle of the night, so I showered and got ready to go the the hospital. As we were leaving the house, Spencer asked if it was all right to stop by school to get something. I was only in labor, for crying out loud, but sure! Let's stop for breakfast too and go for a jog while we're at it. Silly boy.
Cale has always been very even tempered and happy. He's a miniature Spencer. If you know Cale, than you know he loves orange, legos, batman, coloring and cutting, exploring, and imagining in his own little world. We love Cale so much and can't believe he's already 5!
Here is a slideshow and video of Cale's birthday and BATMAN birthday party. I don't know what I was thinking to invite 8 crazy kids over to tear apart my house for 2 hours! No, it wasn't that bad, but there were definitely moments of chaos. We had just gathered everyone at the table and lit the candles to sing happy birthday to Cale when Carli spills a cup of soda all over another child, and then Grace yells, "I need to go poop!" So, we take a break and I'm cleaning up spilt soda and Spencer's wiping bottoms while all the other kids are sticking their fingers in the icing on the cake and eating it. Thank goodness Karen and Mark were there to take care of Danielle for me, or I don't know what I would've done. But Cale had a great time, and that's all that matters, right?
