I can't believe Cale is already 6. That means we've been married for 8 years, and that I'm almost 30! I still feel like we're a young married couple, but I don't think we qualify as that anymore. We have 3 kids and a house, and we're out of school now with a real job. Life passes so quickly. But I also believe that you are only as old as you feel, and since I still feel like I'm 25, than it shouldn't matter how old I am, right?
Anyway, enough of my tangents.
We've decided to just have a "friend" party every other year. This year was scheduled to be a family party, but Cale was bored while I was getting ready for his party, so we just invited over some friends to play for a couple of hours during the afternoon. I didn't plan any party games or have a cake. I felt so bad because one of the girls was terribly disappointed. She thought it was going to be a real birthday party. She drew Cale a cute picture and was looking forward to cake. She said it was the worst birthday party ever and started to cry. I felt so bad that I found some lemonade in the fridge and some store bought cookies in the pantry and took them out to the kids. We sang happy birthday and had refreshments, and that made her very happy.

Cale's birthday is a week after Halloween, so he always wants his birthday to be a Halloween theme. He wanted his cake to be a bat graveyard.

We had Kristin and Mike, Karen and Mark, Sterling and RaeAnn, and Chad and Stacy over for a BBQ birthday party.

Karen and Mark bought fake nails for Cale as a gag gift. He didn't know what to say, so he just handed them to Carli. Carli and Grace loved them!

And so did Chad apparently!
